SCREENWRITING:
EXAMPLE CONCEPTS
EXAMPLE TREATMENT
EXAMPLE SCREENPLAY
EXAMPLE STORYBOARDS
EXAMPLE SHOOTING SCRIPT
SCREENWRITING VISUAL RULES:
Think visually. See the movie in your head as you write.
Don't talk too much. Use the minimum dialogue necessary.
If pictures can tell the story, let them (show - don't tell).
Let dialogue and action work together in scenes instead of separating the film into "talking parts" and "doing parts."
If a character speaks, he or she should move. If the character can't move, the camera should.
SCREENWRITING CONTENT RULES:
Story should have a focus and a theme.
Dialogue should be natural for the characters, period, and genre.
Everything in the story, action, and dialogue should be necessary and support the purpose of the film.
Avoid "deus ex machina," plot holes, and unmotivated action.
Don't use gratuitous content.
